Roofing Materials
The choice of roof tile is important for a number of reasons. While the tile appearance will help to make your home look visually appealing, it is equally important to work with materials you can trust, ones that offer longevity and are an investment for your property. That is why Prestige Midlands Ltd are proud to be working with Marley, one of the world’s foremost and respected manufacturers of roofing tiles for over 100 years, and Klober, one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of roof ventilation products and roofing accessories for nearly 60 years. Our highly experienced team of skilled tradesmen have trained extensively to ensure that our roof tiling services are second to none, using both traditional and modern methods of application to ensure that your new roof will stand the test of time. Whatever your roofing needs, you can rest assured that we source the highest quality materials from the best manufacturers to guarantee that your roof is made to last.
Different Types of Roof Tiles
The type and size of your roof will often determine the size of the roof tile that is required. The team at Prestige Midlands will always be happy to offer expert advice on what size and design of tile will best meet your requirements. Although there are many different types of roof tile, it’s worth noting that not all will be suitable for your particular roof.

The three most common types of roof tile in the UK are:
Slate – a staple of the roof tiling world, slate is highly effective in wet conditions, making it a favourite in the UK. However, UK sourced slate tiles can be expensive and may break in heavy hail. Cheaper imports often contain impurities that appear as white streaking after a few years weathering. A more cost effective, durable and virtually indistinguishable alternative are Fibre Cement tiles that are a similar weight as slate and therefore often eliminate the need for strengthening of slate roof rafters.
Clay Tiles – a traditional material often used on older properties, either in a plain design or ‘pantile’ interlocking design. This type of tile is best in warm and dry conditions, which is another factor worth considering when forecast changes in the UK climate are taken into consideration.
Concrete Tiles – a robust material available in a range of designs to suit the majority of properties and able to withstand some of the most extreme weather experienced in the UK. Concrete tiles can range from a simple plain modern look to designs that mimic the 2000 year old Double Roman profile and the ever popular Pantile look.
